Therapeutic Procedures & Informed Consent

Evaluation

An evaluation must be performed before you begin therapy. It is done so that we can determine what treatment plan would be most beneficial to your needs. The treatment plan will cover procedures, activities, exercises, frequency of treatments, number of visits per week and areas of the body to be treated.

Re-Evaluation

During your treatment we will periodically re-assess your progress and treatment goals. This is done to ensure that the current treatment plan remains appropriate for your condition. Based on progress, we may update procedures, exercises, number of visits, and the areas of the body being treated.

Chiropractic Manipulative Treatment

A form of manual treatment to influence joint and neurophysiological function. This treatment may be accomplished using a variety of techniques, this helps increase active pain-free range of motion, and increases extensibility of myofascial tissue, and facilitates the return to activities.

Hot Packs (15 Min)

A professional wraps hot packs in several layers of towels and places them on the area that requires treatment. This reduces pain and stiffness caused by muscle tension or spasms, promotes increased blood flow to the affected area, helps relax tight muscles, and enhances overall tissue flexibility.

Cold Packs (15 Min)

A professional wraps cold packs in a wet towel and places them directly to the areas that require treatment. This reduces inflammation and swelling in the area, helps numb pain by decreasing nerve activity, minimizes tissue damage, and supports the recovery process by limiting excessive fluid buildup.

Electrical Stimulation (15 Min)

A professional places electrodes on the skin in the area that requires treatment, and turns on a low voltage electrical current to a comfortable level. The duration of treatment is 9 minutes or more. This promotes blood supply to the area and releases endorphins that assist the healing process.

Ultrasound (10 Min)

A professional applies ultrasound using an applicator to the skin on the areas that require treatment. Gel or healing lotion is used on the surface of the applicator. The duration of treatment is 9 minutes or more. This causes deep tissue/muscle warming that decreases inflammation and promotes healing. It also helps improve circulation and tissue repair in the affected area.

Mechanical Traction (15 Min)

The patient is placed on a special traction table. A professional uses the table’s mechanism to apply constant or intermittent mechanical traction to the spine regions that require treatment, and helps reduce pressure on spinal discs and nerves, and supports improved alignment of the spine. This also promotes improved mobility and can aid in decreasing muscle tension.

Manual Therapy

A professional uses manual techniques and may use mechanical low impulse activator to provide joint mobilization/manipulation, manual traction and manipulation of muscles. The duration of treatment is 9 minutes or more. This increases active pain-free range of motion, increases extensibility of myofascial tissue, and facilitates the return to functional activities.

Neuromuscular Re-education (15 Min)

Patient performs various activities to retrain the neuromuscular system to function properly. The duration of treatment is 9 minutes or more. This promotes return to functional activities, and pain-free range of motion.

Strapping

A professional sets an application of flexible hypoallergenic tape. Decreases pain, limits over-extension and over-contraction of muscle tissue, decreases muscle spasms and fatigue, assists in reducing swelling and inflammation, improves range of motion.

Hydro Bed Therapy (15 Min)

A table with a flotation mattress filled with water and intermittent pressure waves generated on the spine. This relaxes the muscles of the back and spine, relieves pain, and encourages circulation. It also soothes tension and aids in recovery.
